About
Jana Runze was born on 10th of August in 1992 in Gummersbach, Germany.
In 2011, Jana graduated from high school (Gymnasium Moltkestrasse, Gummersbach) and started an apprenticeship as marketing and communication saleswoman at MediaCom in Düsseldorf. She graduated with distinction in January 2014 and spend six months in British Columbia, Canada before starting her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Twente in Enschede.
During her bachelor studies, she spend a semester at the Teesside University in Middlesbrough in the UK. In 2017, she finished her Bachelor of Science cum laude and as valedictorian. During her Bachelor, Jana became interested in research. Therefore, she enrolled in the two year Research Master in Behavioral Sciences at the Radboud University in Nijmegen .
After obtaining her Research Masters in 2019, Jana started her PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and within the Leiden Consortium on Individual Development. Under the supervision of prof. dr. Marian Bakermans-Kranenburg and dr. Mirjam Oosterman, she investigated the effect of genes and the environment (specifically parenting) as well as their interaction on the physiological and psychological development of children. In 2022, she received a travel grant and has spent 2 months at the University of Bristol under supervision of prof. dr. Nic Timpson.

In 2023, Jana was offered a postdoctoral fellowship position at the University of Amsterdam in the Preventive Youth Care lab under the supervision of prof. dr. Geertjan Overbeek.
